An appeal of the Ukrainian Evangelical Baptist Convention in the USA, on the third anniversary of
the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.
We, as Christians, continue to pray to our Lord for peace in Ukraine, and provide comprehensive
support and assistance to the Ukrainian people and churches during the war. Our hearts ache for the
hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians who have lost loved ones, who have been taken prisoner, who
have suffered physical and mental wounds, who have been forced to leave their homes and flee the
war.
During this time, the world witnessed the courageous resilience of the Ukrainian people and church,
contrasted with the brutal aggression of Russia. The result of the invasion is genocide of
Ukrainian people, the persecution of Ukrainian Christians in the occupied territories by the
Russian authorities and army, the forcible deportation of Ukrainian children to Russia, and the
holding of thousands of Ukrainians in captivity. The Bible calls this a sin before God and a crime
before men.
On behalf of the Ukrainian people, we are grateful to all Americans, the government, churches,
organizations, citizens, for their support and assistance to Ukraine in its struggle for
independence and freedom. Ukrainians seek peace and pay the highest price for peace, defending and
dying for peace for their loved ones on their own land.
Hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians are grateful for the shelter they were given in the United
States during the war. They are now in the United States because they lost their homes and safety.
We especially appeal to the US government to support Ukrainians who have nowhere to return to,
because their cities and villages have been destroyed and occupied by Russia.
We, members of the Ukrainian Baptist Churches in the United States, appeal to the American people
and government not to stop supporting Ukraine, and to continue assisting the Ukrainian people in
their struggle for the right to freely believe and worship God, the right to live on their own
land, the right to choose their own government, the right to freedom and a vote.
God bless America! God bless Ukraine!
