Minneapolis church packs ‘shoeboxes’

Christmas. What does this holiday contribute to our usual course of life? We think of the events of 2,000 years ago in our imagination, and sometimes reflect on the participants in those events – Mary, Joseph, and shepherds – in our Christmas pageants. We prepare our homes and churches in order to have a nice and pleasant time. Well of course, we don’t forget gifts for our children and each other. But the best gift that each of us once received is God’s gift from heaven, the Savior born for us.”Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.” (2 Corinthians 9:15)

Realizing the full value of this undeserved gift, we similarly try to make others happy in this way. And all the conditions to accomplish this exist in the country where we live. Various projects such as “Christmas Chicken” in Egypt, “Christmas Gift” in the CIS, or the “Operation Christmas Child” around the world encourage us to be grateful for the gift we received and to give others a merry Christmas, while telling them about Jesus.

December, 2018. For many years, the First Ukrainian Baptist Church of Minneapolis has been involved in packaging “shoeboxes” and preparing them for distribution at the Operation Christmas Child warehouse. Here are some photos from this event in our church. Photo 1. Prayer of thanksgiving and blessing of gifts. Photo 2. The church team at the Operation Christmas Child warehouse.
